MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (August 19, 2022) -The Mount Pleasant Police Department is is accepting applications for the Citizen’s Police Academy beginning September 8 and running for 10 weeks.
The MPPD developed a Citizen’s Police Academy for residents of Mount Pleasant to engage and provide insight into the police department. The Mount Pleasant Citizen’s Police Academy provides a chance for the citizens of Mount Pleasant to understand various aspects of the police department on a more personal level and to closely interact with its members. A wide range of topics will be discussed including operations, uniform patrol, K-9 bureau, traffic services, and investigations.
The academy meets each Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Class size is limited to 20 students of at least 18 years of age who live in the Town of Mount Pleasant and have successfully completed the application process.
The classes are held at the Mount Pleasant Police Department, 100 Ann Edwards Lane.
