MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (July 3, 2019) – The Town of Mount Pleasant is excited to see residents and visitors making plans to celebrate Independence Day in the Lowcountry and reminds revelers to stay safe and help protect and preserve natural resources.
“Our community seeks to make environmentally-friendly decisions a way of life,” said Business Development Manager John Holladay. “Because our local economy and recreation activities depend on the health of our environment, we continue to encourage residents, businesses and visitors to Be the Solution, Stop the Pollution.”
In April, Mount Pleasant started enforcing a single-use plastic ban ordinance addressing environmentally acceptable packaging and products. In June, the Town launched the ECO PARTNERS program – an extension of the ordinance that recognizes businesses that go above and beyond to preserve and protect the environment of Mount Pleasant.
“As you celebrate Independence Day and the holiday weekend, keep plastic out of our waterways and make eco-friendly decisions that will last for generations,” encouraged Holladay.
