MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (January 12, 2018) - The Town of Mount Pleasant's Historical Commission announces the 2018 Black History Month celebrations taking place every Saturday during February.
All events start at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the general public.
The events kick off on February 3, with a musical performance from the Claflin University Choir, under the direction of Dr. Isaiah R. McGee, taking place at St. Andrews Church. The following Saturday the Plantation Singers will be returning for their fourth year of spirituals singing at Christ Church.
February 17 features a panel discussion of Army and Marine Corps generals, all graduates of South Carolina State University, hosted by Greater Goodwill A.M.E. Church. Closing out the month will be a history symposium of local speakers in conjunction with a vocal performance by the Friendship AME boys’ choir, at Friendship AME Church February 24.
