MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (July 29, 2016) – A Mount Pleasant police officer is set to graduate from Columbia College August 6, earning a Bachelor of Arts in disaster and emergency management from the school.
Chip Googe, the Mount Pleasant Police Department’s public information officer, started course work for the degree a year and a half ago, and completed his graduation requirements in June.
“I chose emergency and disaster management as a discipline because it focuses on so many of the issues that our country faces today,” Googe said. “My course work included study and research on domestic and international terrorism, weather disasters, man-made disasters and
more cyber attacks.”
Googe said that the course of study gave him a chance to gain critical knowledge of global and domestic emergency and disaster management techniques that he was excited to put into action back at work in the Town he’s policed for 21 years.
“This course of study will allow me to better serve the citizens of Mount Pleasant by helping to prepare the community for what may lie ahead,” he said.
