MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (Jan. 26, 2015) - Mount Pleasant, SC: Registration is open for Spring Youth and Adult Sports Programs at the Town of Mount Pleasant Recreation Department. Youth sports include lacrosse, soccer, baseball, softball, tennis, and unified golf (for golfers with and without disabilities). Adult offerings include softball, soccer, tennis, and unified golf. Additionally, the Town is offering Start Smart™ programs for 4 year olds in t-ball, soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. Start Smart is an international program designed to introduce youth along with their parents to the world of sports. Start Smart programs are limited to the first 12 participants and there will be four sessions on Saturdays from 9:00AM to 9:45 AM. In addition to spring sports offerings, Mount Pleasant Recreation is hosting two spring training events. The Doyle Academy Baseball/Softball Spring Training Warmup will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 20-21 at Park West Recreation baseball fields. The academy was founded by three Doyle brothers who were professional baseball players, and it’s for both baseball and softball players, ages, 6-8; 9-10; 11-12; 13+. The Recreation Department has also partnered with Team First Soccer Academy to bring U.S. Soccer Legends, Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly, & Tisha Koch to Mount Pleasant for a 2-day training clinic. The clinic will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 9-10 at Park West Recreation Complex. This 2-day clinic is for soccer players ages 7-18. Space is also limited.
