Bob Brimmer


Council Member Bob Brimmer was elected to Mount Pleasant Town Council in 2015. He chairs the Planning & Development Committee. He also serves on the Education, Police, Legal & Judicial and Fire Committees.

His experience as a public servant to South Carolina and Mount Pleasant spans fifteen years. For ten years, he served the First Congressional District as a Legislative appointee to the Lander University Board of Trustees. In service to the Town of Mount Pleasant, Bob was twice appointed to Comprehensive Plan Steering Committees and served on two Blue Ribbon Committees for East Cooper Education. Bob also served as a Mount Pleasant Planning Commissioner and advocated for responsible and balanced growth management strategies.

Council Member Brimmer was born and grew up in the beautiful Finger Lakes region in upstate New York. In 1984, he left New York to attend college and enjoy southern living in Greenwood, South Carolina. He and his family have called Mount Pleasant home since 1990.

Council Member Brimmer earned a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Lander College in 1988 and a Masters of Education in Higher Education/Counseling Psychology from James Madison University in 1990. Since moving to the Charleston area, he has had a successful 25 year career as a clinician, manager, director and regional leader assisting those in need and protecting the most vulnerable among us.

In 1992, Council Member Brimmer married Dianne and together they have raised two children who are proud to call Mount Pleasant their hometown. Haley is a proud Clemson Tiger and Alec is an aspiring musician at Wando High School.

They have been Park West residents since 2003 and have been actively involved in a variety of community, recreational and civic activities over the past 25 years. Bob and his family are long-time, active parishioners at St. Benedict Catholic Church, where he served for two years as the Chair of the Pastoral Council.
