Take Root EventsTAKING ROOT

Take Root Events are a community tree give-a-way initiative designed to encourage residents to take an active role in beautifying our Town and addressing the challenges of growth. Further, the intent is to provide education and to encourage our citizens to plant responsibly. Planning Staff volunteers their time to work at these events throughout the year. To date, the Town has given away over 3,000 trees, a variety of all native species. Take Root Events include the following:

  • Farmers Market
  • Children’s Day Festival
  • Sweetgrass Basket Festival
  • Blessing of the Fleet
  • Arbor Day Activities

The Town has given away 3,322 seedlings to date from Spring 2021-Fall 2022.

Team up with your neighbors to Take Root Mount Pleasant!  Consider the impact if we all took up the challenge to plant another tree. Take Root Mount Pleasant! Use the hashtag #TakeRootMP on Instagram and Facebook when you share photos of your newly planted tree!
