Learn how to design and build resiliency into local yards! This course focuses on rain garden and rainwater harvesting system design and installation. Rain gardens and rainwater harvesting systems assist residents with flood and erosion management, water conservation and establishment of backyard habitat.
As part of the Master Rain Gardener program, participants will learn about:
• Rain garden site assessment
• Soil analysis
• Design standards and elements
• Plant selection
• Rainwater harvesting system sizing and design
• Rainwater harvesting water use and safety measures
• Maintenance and use for long term success
The Certification Track, geared towards professional audiences, includes a field day that will take place April 15th in Charleston, SC.
The Letter of Completion Track is intended for home gardeners, Master Gardeners, and other residential audiences. Attendance in the field day is not included in this track.

The Healthy Pond Series is a community-based discussion series for pond owners and managers to learn and share stormwater pond management solutions. Proper stormwater pond management involves understanding water quality, both in your pond and in other water bodies. This session will discuss the basics of water quality monitoring in stormwater ponds and how results can inform management decision-making. You will be able to practice the skills you learn and have a chance to ask plenty of questions.
This event is free and will be useful to anyone who owns or manages a stormwater pond. Please feel free to invite your HOA board, neighbors, property management company or anyone else who might be interested.
This event will be held rain or shine, so please be prepared for the weather. This session will give you practice assessing a pond and determining possible management actions.
