MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (June 23, 2016) – After notifying port officials, the Mount Pleasant Police Department is now allowing limited commercial traffic into the Wando Port Terminal after a period spent diverting all traffic away from the facility. The launch of a new gate system at the port has caused delays on Long Point Road and the eastbound shoulder of I-526.
“We are taking this situation very seriously,” said Mount Pleasant Mayor Linda Page. “We are concerned for residents and businesses directly affected by the port’s new system. We have diverted our police resources to address the traffic congestion and we are closely monitoring the situation.”
