Scope of Work
Traffic studies demonstrated large demands for this traffic movement. This project creates a right turn lane on Long Point Road to access the westbound entrance ramp to I-526 to meet that demand. This project was ranked #1 by Town Council for submittal to Charleston County’s 2015 Sales Tax Annual Allocation Projects.

• Enhance transportation network by reducing back up onto Belle Hall Parkway
• Improving the flow of traffic for residents leaving by providing direct access to interstate
• Increase intersection safety
Traffic ControlMotorists will experience changing driving patterns and are advised to exercise caution within the construction zone.
o Shifting of the two westbound traffic lanes and realignment of the westbound traffic signals
o Temporary elimination of left-hand turns from Long Point Road into Belle Hall Parkway
o Left turning traffic will be detoured to Belle Point Parkway

About the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)The Long Point On-Ramp is part of the CIP. Other capital projects currently underway include: Shem Creek Park Phase 2, Memorial Waterfront Park Phase 2, Billy Swails Boulevard, Fire Station 6, the new Town Hall, stormwater improvements, public restroom facilities at the Farmers Market, and the master plan for the recreation property on Rifle Range Road.
