MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (September 28, 2015) – Mayor Linda Page announced today the hiring of Amy L. Livingston as Business Development Officer for the Town of Mount Pleasant. Livingston brings to the position seven years of experience in economic development within the region, both with her work as program manager for the City of Charleston’s Digital Corridor and as an industry liaison with ECPI University.
“We are pleased to welcome Amy to our team,” said Mayor Page. “Mount Pleasant has never been more in demand from business. Low taxes, hands-on support and multiple incentives allow businesses to come here. Low crime, the best schools and our unique dining, shopping and recreation make employees happy.”
In her new position, Livingston will implement Mount Pleasant’s Economic Development and Business Development Plans focused on fostering an economic environment that is vibrant, favorable to job creation and bolstering the general prosperity of the community. She will promote the Town as a business destination regionally and nationally in cooperation with various county, state and federal agencies.
“As Chair of the Town’s Economic Development Committee, I look forward to working hand-in-hand with Livingston in continuing to support our local business community and further encouraging high-wage job development,” said Councilman Mark Smith.
Additional duties will include organizing quarterly business socials between elected officials, senior staff and the community and serving as liaison to the Harbor Entrepreneur Center. “As demand to do business in Mount Pleasant accelerates, it is important we provide our local businesses, and those interested in locating in the Town, high-touch customer service synonymous with the Town,” said Livingston. “I look forward to being that single point-of-contact and ensuring industry knows Mount Pleasant is open for business.”
Livingston earned a Master of Public Administration with a focus on Public Policy from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor Degree in Economics and Spanish from Wofford College, SC.
An active member of the community, Livingston has served on advisory boards for the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, Lowcountry Tech Academy, Charleston Regional Development Alliance and Teacher’s Supply Closet.
