MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (August 31, 2015) – The Town of Mount Pleasant recently hosted a business outreach meeting at Blackbeard’s Cove, 3255 Hwy. 17 N. Mount Pleasant Councilmembers Mark Smith, Elton Carrier, and Ken Glasson, along with Town Administrator Eric DeMoura, Assistant Town Administrator Katherine Hendricks and Government Outreach Officer Lauren Sims met with Christi Dodson, Blackbeard’s Cove Director of Sales and Marketing.
“The meetings are informal roundtable discussions where business owners and their staff have an opportunity to discuss topics important to them with their elected officials. The business outreach meetings, spearheaded by the Economic Development Committee are a great way to connect with local businesses, exchange information, understand the challenges and opportunities that our local businesses face, and strengthen community relationships,” commented Councilman Smith.
The group was offered a tour of the facility’s newest ventures including significant renovations. Blackbeard’s Cove recently completed the construction of four meeting rooms that can be reserved for parties, team-building activities, and corporate events. Each room is outfitted with televisions and AV equipment. The park recently began hosting Character Dinners the third Saturday of each month. The dinners are held from 6 to 9 p.m., adults are free and children are $29.99 per child (advance reservations are required). More information can be obtained online at http://blackbeardscove.net.
The Business Outreach Meetings are part of the town wide Government Outreach and Engagement Strategy. The Government Outreach Office works with various Town departments, citizens, neighborhood associations, civic groups, faith organizations, business leaders, and non-profit entities to create community-wide conversations and foster collaborative partnerships that will lead to strong community relationships, a shared common identity, and a more engaged community.
