MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (August 14, 2015) – The Town of Mount Pleasant Police Department wants to spend time with kids over free pizza and a drink. The new program called Cops & Kids Pizza Night will kick off on Monday, August 24, from 6 to 7:00 p.m. at Andolini’s Pizza, 414 West Coleman Boulevard.
“We often hear about taking back the streets when fighting crime,” said Mount Pleasant Police Chief Carl Ritchie. “Our department believes that if you don’t lose the streets, you won’t have to take them back. The Mount Pleasant Police Department Cops & Kids Pizza Night Program is at the heart of our philosophy of community engagement and prevention. I would like to commend Sgt. William Mauldin for his leadership in creating the program and applaud Andolini’s Pizza for sponsoring this event and for being such a great community partner.”
“We welcome parents and kids to join us for a night of pizza and fun,” said Sgt. Mauldin. “Cops & Kids Pizza Night is the latest addition of our youth engagement programs. Kids ages 5-16 are invited to attend and will receive free slices of cheese and/or pepperoni pizza and a free drink. Parents will get their orders half-off.”
“We also invite all children to ask a police officer present at the event for a Buddy Card. By collecting the signatures of ten police officers, they’ll get to interact with our staff and they’ll be able to claim a prize at Town Hall. Instead of trading in pictures of celebrities, the Cops & Kids Buddy Card program trades in autographs of real-life heroes, our police force,” he added.
