MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (July 27, 2015) – Did you know that the Town has adopted a Master Bike and Pedestrian Plan with improvements that link to Town facilities, parks and schools? This master plan includes a seven-year action plan that outlines specific projects.
This year, in partnership with the Public Services Department and the Recreation Department, and as part of the Capital Improvement Plan, the Planning and Development Department installed bike racks at our recreational facilities on schedule and under budget. This latest capital improvement project brings many health benefits that are associated with cycling.
“I am pleased to announce that 27 bike racks have been installed town-wide,” said Mount Pleasant Mayor Linda Page. “Cycling is one of the easiest ways to exercise. It builds strength and muscle tone, improves cardio vascular fitness and coordination and reduces stress. The new bike racks at our recreational facilities will make it easier for adults and children to park their bikes. Just remember to lock your bicycle when reaching your destination!”
The bike racks can be found at the following locations:
• Duffie Baseball Complex • Jones Center Entrance • Jones Center Softball Fields • Alhambra Hall Kids Park• Kerr Tennis Center • Julian Weston Tennis Courts • Speights/Reid Field • Park West (Program Building, Pool, Track, Gym, Multi Baseball, Pavilion)• Sloan Park/Gawrych Baseball Complex
