MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (June 8, 2015) - Jazzy Jordan, a watercolor artist and daughter of local artist Steven Jordan and Penny Gabriel, is proud to announce that she has opened her own art gallery in Mount Pleasant, SC. Jazzy was born and raised in Mount Pleasant and grew up surrounded by art in her dad’s gallery and in her home. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday to celebrate the grand opening of her gallery.
Jazzy started selling her work at the Steven Jordan Gallery when she was only 5 years old. A customer came in and bought a piece she drew on a sticky note for 25 cents. He brought the piece back 10 years later and had it framed. Since then Jazzy has sold over 50 pieces of art and most recently was displaying her work at Karen’s Korner, Mount Pleasant.
Jazzy entered and won many awards in several art competitions. Her work was featured in the Piccolo Spoleto Young Artist exhibit during the 2013 Spoleto Art Festival in Charleston, SC.
Jazzy’s passion is painting local architecture and she excels at painting pet portraits and commissions. It has been Jazzy’s dream since graduating from the Charleston County School of the Arts in 2013 to open her own gallery. Her plan has been to have a space to show her work but also to provide the opportunity for other artists to have a gallery to show their work as well.
Jazzy’s father, Steven Jordan, currently has a studio space at The Common near Shem Creek and the space next door to his became available at the end of April and this is when Jazzy’s dream became a reality. The gallery features artwork by the following local artists:
- Jazzy Jordan - watercolor paintings
