MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (January 20, 2015) - Residents are advised to protect themselves from telephone scam artists claiming they represent Mount Pleasant Waterworks and attempting to collect bills over the phone.
The callers will present themselves as a Customer Service Representative of Mount Pleasant Waterworks and demand immediate payment with a credit or debit card.
“The best way for people to protect themselves from these phone scams is to be aware they are happening and not give out any financial information over the phone,” said General Manager Clay Duffie.
Mount Pleasant Waterworks does not call customers to demand for immediate payment nor ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone.
Mount Pleasant Waterworks advises residents who receive calls they believe are a scam to avoid providing any personal information and hang up immediately.
