The Reading Patrol is a new program that builds a foundation of knowledge and trust for our youth and strengthens their relationship with the police department. Reading and literacy are key factors in school retention and graduation rates and the department believes that it is never too early to develop a lifelong love of reading. Our talented officers are building bonds with the youth of our community one book at a time. We want to preserve and build on that positive sentiment.
May 20, 2017, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

April 20, 2017, 8:00 AM - June 4, 2017, 11:00 PM @ Purchase rain barrels on-line
Two pick up locations - Summerville and N. Charleston
Help local water quality and flood control efforts by reducing your personal run-off. Run off from your roof (an impervious area) can be collected in rain barrels for and re-use in landscaping. This best practice helps to lower the amount of run-off we send out into our creeks.
Want to to make a bigger reduction in your run-off foot print? - consider coupling a rain barrel with a rain garden. Learn more about the Rain Garden Initiative at http://www.clemson.edu/extension/raingarden/.
