Limited Dine-In Service Details for Restaurants

Based on advice and recommendations from the “Response” component of accelerateSC, which includes input from S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control and the South Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association (SCRLA), Governor McMaster has established guidelines for restaurants to follow if and when they choose to open for dine-in services. Those guidelines include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Only allow 50% of posted occupancy inside, as determined by fire marshals.
- Tables should be spaced 6-8 feet apart.
- Additional cleaning and sanitizing guidelines for equipment, tables, chairs, etc.
- Additional guidance for health checks for all employees.
- Social distancing guidance for employees and customers, including recommended.

Prior to reopening, it is critical that every restaurant intending to reopen evaluate their inventory, review their food safety certification and procedures to ensure they can open in compliance with SC Food Safety regulations, and do a deep re-clean and sanitize the entire restaurant facility using the CDC-recommended guidelines during COVID-19.

The SCRLA suggests posting a sign on the door to your restaurant that no one with a fever or persistent cough is to be permitted in the restaurant. Post a sign on receiving door that no suppliers or vendors should enter if they have a fever or persistent cough. Provide signage at each public entrance to inform all employees and customers that they should:

- Not be allowed to enter if they feel generally unwell.
- Maintain a minimum of 6-foot distance.
- Sneeze or cough into a cloth or tissue.
- Not shake hands or engage in any unnecessary physical contact.

This sign is not mandated by the Town of Mount Pleasant although the South Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association highly recommends that signs with this information are posted on all entrance doors. If you do not have your own sign, the Town of Mount Pleasant is providing a printable version on their website at http://www.tompsc.com/1187/Biz-During-COVID-19.
