By Martine Wolfe-Miller, Mount Pleasant Communications ManagerMOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (March 26, 2020) – The Town of Mount Pleasant today announced the closure of the Pickett Recreational Park Area (Pitt Street Bridge) and the playground at Memorial Waterfront Park to safeguard against the spread of COVID-19. These Town closures follow Governor McMaster’s latest executive order prohibiting gatherings of three or more to slow the spread and flatten the curve of the coronavirus. The closure of these two popular local attractions was prompted by reports of large gatherings and ineffectual physical distancing. The Mount Pleasant Police Department is asking for community support in observing these life saving measures and to prevent closures of additional recreation facilities and parks. Mount Pleasant police officers will be patrolling these facilities to determine if more closures are necessary.
