Gary Santos

Biography

 
Council Member Gary Santos, a Mount Pleasant native, was first elected to serve on Town Council in 1996. He was re-elected in 2000, 2004, November 2013 and November 2017. Click to view the Committees of Council assignments.
  
Council Member Santos holds a degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Leadership Development from Trident Technical College. He is a board member and vice president of the Charleston Port & Seafarers Society.

He was named the 2005 Local Government Official of the Year for the State of South Carolina by the South Carolina Parks and Recreation Association; the 2005 Recreation Advocate of the Year by the Charleston Metro Sports Council; a 2011 Volunteer of the Year by the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department; the 2016 Videographer Awards - Award of Excellence winner for "Be a Trendsetter - Rode CARTA!"; and the 2017 National Transportation Week Committee's "Transportation Leader of the Year" award winner.

He is the Cruise Commercial Manager - Americas for Inchcape Shipping Services.

Council Member Santos, a life-long member of Christ our King Catholic Church, is the parent of two children - Christopher, who is a Graduate of College of Charleston and Taylor who is a Graduate of Clemson University.
