The Office of Community Planning and Zoning assumes the responsibility of administering and enforcing the Town's zoning ordinances, land development regulations, and municipal impact fees. The planning area extends from the Ravenel Bridge north to Guerins Bridge Road and includes land outside the Town's corporate limits.
The Town's Code of Ordinances were enacted to best promote the interests of the citizens and property holders of the municipality. The ordinances include the Zoning Code and Land Development Regulations which are based, in part, and designed to implement the Comprehensive Plan to help ensure efficient, equitable, and reasoned land use decisions.
Land Use Recommendations
The Town’s Comprehensive Plan provides land use and density recommendations for each parcel within the planning area. The land use recommendation is one element for consideration in determining each parcel’s zoning district designation; the zoning designation determines which uses are allowed. Zoning maps are regularly updated to reflect annexations and rezonings.
